Tutorial - Presets

All objects in Dise Composer can be saved as presets. This means that you can create an object, with effects. Such as a channel logo and save it for future use in other presentations. This reduces the work of doing multiple scenes that have different content but should have some similar objects. You can save single objects, groups of objects and you can even save entire scenes as "templates" which can be added and used when building presentations. When saving presets or template scenes a thumbnail image is automatically generated. So when you want to use your saved preset you just drag the thumbnail onto the editing area and you have created one or more objects from your scene. In addition different variations of objects or effects are already saved as presets. So when you start the Dise Composer the first time it already contains presets for movement and transitions, ready for you to drag and drop.

Step 1 - To see an example of an already designed preset Start the Dise Composer. Select the Library Tab and browse your way to Presets Shapes and Stars. Select the Preset named bouncing star and drag it on to the editing area. If you now press play your will see the star zoom in and out. The Star shape together with its behavior has earlier been saved as a preset. You can try dragging multiple stars on to the edit area.

Step 5 - As mentioned, you can also work with scenes in the same way and export and import entire scenes in to your presentation. This makes it easy to create one or more scenes and let other people use the software to compose their own presentations using your scenes and allowing them to change the text content on the scene without destroying the layout of the scene. Dise comes with a couple of preset scenes. Navigate to the Presets | Scenes folder and you will se the following three scenes. These scenes can be added to a presentation by just using drag and drop.

Step 6 - To create your own scene preset just create your scene as you would like it to appear. In this example I have created a week calendar. This scene will be used by a another person to update the upcoming events for the next week. Every week a new presentation will be created so it makes sense to create a scene preset from my scene.
