Tutorial - Setup of Dise Probe
Dise Probe is located on your Player PC and is responsible of downloading content and ensuring that the content located on the Player PC is kept up to date.
Dise Probe can download content from a network (or local) path or from an FTP server, before downloading the files it will compare the files with the files located on disk to make sure that it will not download files that has been downloaded on an earlier occasion.
When Dise Probe download files they will be will at first be downloaded to a temporary directory, when the download process finishes then the files will be moved to a specified destination directory and Dise Replay will be informed that new files has arrived and will finish the content update.
In this tutorial you will learn how to setup Probe to download content from a FTP server.
Step 1 – Start Dise Probe.

Step 2 – Stop Dise Probe activity by clicking the Stop button on the top left.

Step 3 – Select “Setup” from the File menu. This will show the Probe settings dialog.

Step 4 – Click on the Add button on the “Download Locations” tab in the Probe Settings dialog. This will show the “Edit download location” dialog.

Step 5 - When we create a new download location we have to give the download location a name, in this tutorial we will name it “Example Download”. The name is important since this is your reference to the download location in Probe, so name it wisely considering where it will be used and what for.

Step 6 – This download location should be downloaded every 5 minutes, so change so that the download interval is zero for days and hours and 5 for the minute value.

Step 7 – Specify “C:\Content_Temp” for the Temporary reception directory, this is where the files will be stored during download. This directory will be created if it does not exist, any files in this directory not created by Dise Probe will be automatically removed.
Step 8 – Specify “C:\Content” for the Destination directory, this is where the files will end up when Dise Probe has finished downloading them.

Step 9 – Select “Download from FTP server” as “Update communication method” and enter the same FTP details as setup in Dise Bridge (you did read the “Bridge - Create a destination” tutorial didn’t you?)

Step 10 – Click OK to close the “Edit download location” dialog and OK again to close the “Probe settings” dialog.

Step 11 – Click on the Start button on the top left to start Probe activity.

Step 12 – Wait and watch as Dise Probe downloads the content from the FTP server and places it in the Destination directory (“C:\Content”).
